Children of the River

If something that bad happened to my town, I would stay.  I think it would be too much of a risk to leave the town if it was under attack. If you left there would be a risk of getting captured or hurt or even killed. I would probably stay in my home and try to stay as safe as possible, I would want to protect my family and friends.
If I was in an airport I would probably be with one, or more of my friends and my parents. I would leave  behind some of my friends and family. I would choose to stay with my friends because, if I was going to die I would want to die next to someone I know and am close to. If I wasn't given a choice, I guess I would leave behind a couple of my friends, but definitely not my parents. If I did ended up on a plane and it landed in a country where I did not speak the language I would feel alone. I wouldn't know what to do with myself, and I probably would have wished that I had just stayed home because, in my opinion, feeling alone is similar to death so I would have felt like I would have rather stayed home and died in my own country, next to my friends and people that I love.  Instead of dying in a foreign country all alone.
If I figured out I landed in China I would probably cry for a while. My life would be so different, in many ways.  Something I would value in my new home that the people didn't understand would be freedom and having much more money, I know that sounds kind of selfish, but many people there don't have a choice of job or when they want to work. Also, people in China don't have as much money as we do and I would feel like I would miss having money to buy a lot of the things I want. I also can't have a lot of Chinese food because it is cooked in peanut oil, and I am allergic to peanuts so I don't know how well that would work out. I would probably change my attitude if I lived in China because they have so much less than we do and I would feel like I should value things more than I used to because I wouldn't want to take life for granted and I would want to have a nice life after what happened in America. I would want to become a nicer person and try to live more for others and less for myself.

Themes

Genocide.
Genocide is when a large group of people is killed based or ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.
I also know about the Holocaust and what happened then.
I want to know more about previous genocides and why they happened.

Long Post

 Citations:
Szumski,Bonnie. "Criminal Justice." The Case fir Defending the Guilty.
         ST.Paul Minnesota:Greenhaven Press, 1987. 180-187

When I cite sources, I write down all the information I think I will need. I use the website that Mrs.Ferrante and Mr.Kahill gave us, and I look at formats. Then I write my citation using the formats given.

Valid Source:
I don't think the website is valid because at the bottom of the page it states that it is not associated with any educational sources. The page also said, "Serving the paranoid since 1997." That makes me think that the website is not true.

Commas:
1.Use commas to separate three or more words or phrases in a series.
A.The shopping list included: apples, chips, juice and hot cocoa.
2. Use commas to indicate that a person is being addressed by name.
A. Joe, did you eat all of the pizza?
3. Use commas after phrases, clauses, or small words that introduce the main idea of your sentence.
A. "No Mom, that movie was horrible."
4. Use commas to set off words, phrases or clauses that comment on or give additional information about the main part of the sentence, or otherwise interrupt the natural flow of the sentence.
A. Hannah Johnston, my best friend, makes me laugh a lot.
5. Use commas before coordinating conjunctions such as "and," "or,", "but" that join two complete sentences, or when the comma is needed for clarity, emphasis, or contrast.
A. Maine has crazy weather, but I don't mind.
6. Use a comma before non-essential, modifying elements that follow the words and main clause and provide information that supplements or comments clauses on the basic meaning of the main clause.
A.  I cannot wait until vacation, 9 days away.
7. Use a comma between coordinate adjectives not joined by "and."
A.  Zared is a short, mean man.
8. Use a comma when noting dates and addresses.
A.September 19,1996

Sources and Such

Valid: Information that is correct based on facts, useful information, relevancy and currency.
Reliable: Something you are confident in using.
Accurate: Finding the same information on more than one source; the information is backed up.

Source Review:
http://www.amnestyusa.org/justice/index.html

This website is very helpful; it has just about everything I need, including another source. There is valid information on the website and they also have a couple videos on a couple cases of International Justice. It's valid because it's a dot org. It also comes from Amnesty International which is a very well known organization. It is also very current because it was last updated only a couple of years ago. The information is very useful and I took a lot of notes using this website. I am confident in using this website because it is a dot org website and like I said before it comes from Amnesty International which is a trusted, well known organization. I have not determined it's accuracy yet, because I have only used this source so far, but I will check the accuracy soon when I start finding other websites and books.

Research

In English class, I looked online for information about various forms of justice. I also thought about thesis' I wanted to choose from. We didn't get a chance to research in History yet so I haven't done anything in that class.  I feel like this project is going to be difficult if I don't find a thesis or research topic right away. I also feel like I might procrastinate until it is almost due, but I'll try not to do that.
